  1. I've never seen this before, Jon. Do you know who the artist is?

  2. T'internet says: This mural is located in Alexandra Road in Swindon. Text from a leaflet about Swindon murals states: "Swindon Junction Railway Station 1901. 1979 Alexandra Road. Designed and painted by school students, under the direction of Brian Hamley. Funded by Urban Aid Improvement Grant."

  3. That's it! There's some great pictures on that link for Duncan and Mandy Ball's site.

  4. Hi Jon - on the subject of murals, have you seen the one in the alley round the side of the Health Hydro? It's in a very accomplished 'graffiti' style (for want of a better description)and presumably was done with the consent of the homeowner. It seems to be in commemoration of someone with the surname Woodhouse. I'd love to know about its background. There's another in the same style in an alley behind the closed shop nearby in Chester Street (I think it is).

  5. And have you seen the mural inside the Health Hydro? You'd have to ask at Reception to go to the area past the therapists' treatment rooms to see it, but it's the most wonderful, restful scene of a garden, which takes up an enormous wall in a sort of hall. Art classes used to be held there, and before that it was a cafe. But now there are plans to install a gym, and the mural is due to be painted over (if it hasn't already gone...)The Health Hydro itself would be a wonderful subject for a photographic project!
